“Making a Difference”
Community Leaders Eco Training: Facilitating Local Sustainability
Based on Cultivate’s Facilitating Community Wellbeing and Climate Resilience course, this free training is designed to empower community leaders to better understand the ecological challenges we face, how we respond as communities and engage the public in addressing the climate and ecological crises at the local level.
The short training will build capacity in community engagement, facilitation, and the skills needed to accelerate community-led initiatives that advance biodiversity conservation, climate action, circular economy practices, and creative placemaking.
This professional development course will take place from the 31st of March, 1 evening per week from 7:30 – 9pm in the Market House, Newcastle West, V42 Y425. There is also one field trip day taking place on Saturday the 26th of April to Cloughjordan Ecovillage.
Program Focus:
- Ecological Thinking: Understanding interconnected issues and identifying community-led responses to the challenges we face. Participants will deepen their understanding of the broader context and develop the skills needed to lead sustainable, community-driven projects that foster local development and resilience.
- Community Engagement: Strategies for reaching and mobilising diverse stakeholders, with a focus on engaging seldom-heard voices and ensuring inclusive participation.
- Facilitation Skills: Building the capacity to host collaborative, participatory processes that drive collective action.
Whether you are an experienced leader or new to community-led action, this program will equip you with the skills, knowledge, and networks to create meaningful, lasting change in your community.
Please Note – Participants are to note their interest in attending the training workshop no later than Friday, 21st March 2025.
Interest can be registered by emailing Andi at amothersoul@wlr.ie

Three years ago today, the EU activated the Temporary Protection Directive (TPD), providing a safe pathway to protection for millions of people fleeing the war in Ukraine.
It was a powerful demonstration of the EU’s unity and solidarity in the face of a humanitarian crisis, providing displaced people with immediate and collective protection, including the right to reside, work, study, and access health care and social support in the EU.
But with temporary protection due to expire just one year from now, time is running out to find durable solutions, and provide people with the predictability they need to rebuild their lives with dignity.
Together with 109 organisations, including West Limerick Resources CLG, we are asking the EU and its member states to shift from emergency measures to longer-term strategies and solutions.
